The Challenge

Colleen Cyca is a passionate permaculture practitioner and educator dedicated to helping people rediscover a sense of hope through practical, hands-on ecological learning. Her work focuses on empowering individuals and communities to create meaningful change by transforming their own backyards into thriving, regenerative landscapes.

As her work evolved, Colleen recognized the need for a brand that could better reflect the philosophy behind her teaching and the growing scope of her educational work. The new brand needed to communicate both the grounded, nature-based principles of permaculture and the clarity and professionalism required for teaching, workshops, and public engagement.

At the same time, the visual identity needed to feel authentic to the permaculture community while remaining refined enough to appeal to a wider audience of homeowners, gardeners, and learners interested in ecological living.

The Solution

Curator partnered with Colleen to develop a new business name, brand identity, and website that would reflect the evolving direction of her work.

Through a collaborative exploration of language and philosophy, we developed the name Concentric Permaculture, which reflects the interconnected and expanding circles of influence created through ecological education and regenerative design.

The brand identity and website were designed to evoke a sense of grounded natural beauty while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The result is a brand that feels rooted in nature, thoughtful in its presentation, and aligned with the principles of regenerative living that guide Colleen’s work.

Brand Positioning

Permaculture education often exists at the intersection of environmental philosophy, practical gardening knowledge, and community empowerment. For Colleen’s brand, the positioning needed to communicate this depth while remaining approachable for people just beginning their journey into ecological living.

The brand therefore emphasizes two key qualities:

Grounded natural wisdom: Reflecting the regenerative principles and ecological awareness that define permaculture practice.

Accessible learning and empowerment: Encouraging individuals to see their own homes and gardens as places where meaningful environmental change can begin.

This positioning frames Concentric Permaculture not simply as a gardening resource, but as a source of hope, practical knowledge, and community-oriented environmental action.

Brand Name Development

As part of the brand development process, Curator collaborated closely with Colleen to develop a new name that would reflect the evolving scope of her work.

The name Concentric Permaculture draws inspiration from the concept of expanding circles of influence, beginning with personal stewardship of land and gradually extending outward into families, communities, and ecosystems.

The word concentric evokes this idea of interconnected growth, reflecting how small actions taken in a person’s own backyard can ripple outward into broader environmental change.

The name provides a thoughtful and distinctive foundation for the brand while clearly connecting to the principles of permaculture.

Brand Identity Design

Colleen envisioned a visual identity inspired by the feeling of a modern North American apothecary, an aesthetic grounded in nature while still feeling refined and contemporary.

The visual direction blends subtle Western influences with clean, modern design elements.

Typography plays an important role in establishing this tone. The brand pairs a distinctive primary typeface with a slightly artistic script that adds warmth and personality while remaining highly legible.

The colour palette is anchored by Colleen’s favourite shade of warm grey, accented with a vibrant turquoise that introduces a sense of freshness and vitality.

This palette was also intentionally designed to harmonize with the colours found in living landscapes. Deep greens from plants and occasional floral tones naturally complement the core brand colours, allowing photography and natural imagery to integrate seamlessly with the visual identity.

Website Strategy & User Experience Design

Curator designed and developed a custom one-page website using the Showit platform, creating a focused digital presence that clearly introduces Colleen’s work and philosophy.

The single-page structure allows visitors to quickly understand the mission behind Concentric Permaculture while learning about Colleen’s approach to education, ecological design, and regenerative living.

The design prioritizes clarity, natural imagery, and thoughtful pacing, reflecting the calm and grounded ethos of the brand.

By keeping the website streamlined and visually cohesive, the site serves as an inviting introduction to Colleen’s work while providing a foundation for future growth as her educational offerings continue to expand.
