Brands & Websites
Which design platforms does Curator work with?
Our preferred web design platform is Showit, a renowned drag-and-drop website builder known for its exceptional flexibility, creative freedom, and seamless integration with WordPress. Showit dramatically reduces the need for expensive custom coding, making it a cost-effective option for many businesses that seek professional, custom websites with rich user experiences.
We've found that our clients appreciate how intuitive and user-friendly the platform is, allowing them to make updates and maintain their website over time without technical expertise. Additionally, the ability to leverage WordPress plugins through Showit enables us to leverage advanced functionality without sacrificing design integrity.
While Showit is our primary platform of choice, we also offer web design and development services for Squarespace, Wix, Wordpress, and Shopify. We are committed to meeting our clients where they are and helping them choose the platform that best fits their unique needs, goals, and operational capabilities.
Please note, however, that our flat-rate page fee is exclusive to websites built with Showit. For all other platforms, variability in design and development workflows, our services are billed at an hourly rate.
What is the difference between web design and web development?
When it comes to building an effective online presence, it's important to understand the distinct yet interconnected roles of web design, web development, and software integration.
Web design is the art and science of thoughtfully crafting a website that seamlessly blends your brand’s marketing strategy with a polished and intuitive user experience. It encompasses graphic design, visual media, strategic copywriting, page layout and site architecture planning—all designed to not only captivate your audience but also guide them toward meaningful action. At Curator, we approach web design as a strategic endeavor, ensuring that every visual and written element is intentionally aligned with your brand’s goals and identity.
Web development, by contrast, is the technical process of creating, building, and maintaining the functional aspects of websites and web applications. At Curator, all of our web design packages include front-end web development at no additional cost. This means that the beautiful, strategically crafted designs we create will be faithfully brought to life on the web, ensuring both aesthetic excellence and technical precision. From responsive design to cross-platform optimization, we make sure your website not only looks stunning but also functions flawlessly across popular web applications on both desktop and mobile devices.
In most cases, software integration is a key component of this process. It involves embedding third-party tools and services, such as booking systems, e-commerce platforms, CRM systems, email marketing integrations, and more, directly into your website. Our approach to software integration ensures that your website is both visually impressive and fully equipped to support your operational needs.
For businesses with more complex requirements, we also offer back-end web development services. This includes configuring third-party software to ensure that every element of your digital infrastructure is securely and efficiently connected behind the scenes.
At Curator, we believe that true digital elegance lies at the intersection of strategy, design, and functionality—and we are committed to delivering excellence across all three.
Will my website be mobile-friendly?
At Curator, we believe that exceptional websites must deliver an equally powerful experience across all devices. That’s why every web design project we undertake includes two fully custom versions of your website: one optimized for desktop viewing and another specifically tailored for mobile devices.
Rather than simply scaling down, stacking, or shuffling the desktop design, we intentionally reimagine the user experience for mobile users, taking into account the unique ways people interact with websites on smaller screens. Navigation, layout, visual hierarchy, and call-to-action placements are thoughtfully adjusted to ensure that your brand’s impact, clarity, and ease of use are never compromised—no matter what device your audience is using.
Our preferred platform, Showit, empowers our expert designers with the creative flexibility to design truly custom experiences for both desktop and mobile, without being confined to rigid design frameworks. This freedom allows us to craft intentional, strategic designs that honor the nuances of device types, delivering a seamless and elevated user journey from the very first interaction.
What is a typical timeline for a brand or website project?
At Curator, we understand that each project is as unique as the business behind it. As such, the timeline for completing a brand or web design project can vary significantly based on the specific needs of your business and your readiness to engage in the collaborative process.
A major factor in maintaining momentum is your ability to provide timely, constructive, and actionable feedback throughout each phase of the project. Open, efficient communication ensures that we can move seamlessly from one stage to the next without unnecessary delays, allowing us to deliver your project on schedule—and to the highest standard of excellence.
If you already have key foundational elements in place—such as a robust marketing strategy, a professionally designed visual brand system, a curated suite of high-quality imagery, and completed, conversion-focused copy—our expert designers can efficiently design and build a polished, multi-page website within a matter of weeks. With a strong strategic and visual foundation already established, we can focus on bringing your vision to life with precision, creativity, and technical mastery.
However, if your project requires more comprehensive services—such as the creation or refinement of your marketing strategy, the design or refresh of your visual brand system, the curation of professional brand imagery, collaborative art direction for a brand photoshoot, professional copywriting, or custom back-end development—your project timeline will naturally extend. In these cases, we advise allowing several months for the full design and development process, ensuring there is adequate time for thoughtful strategy, creative exploration, revisions, and refinement.
At Curator, we never rush the process of building a brand or website that is a true reflection of your business’s values, vision, and aspirations. We are deeply committed to delivering work both beautiful and strategic, as well as timeless and enduring, which we believe is worth every moment of careful creation.
Will I be able to maintain my website myself?
Once your website has officially launched, our commitment to your success doesn't end there. At Curator, we want to ensure you feel confident and empowered to maintain your beautiful new website moving forward.
To support you, we provide a Website Maintenance Guide, filled with essential information and numerous links to helpful resources. In addition, you’ll receive a pre-recorded 90-minute personalized tutorial, designed to familiarize you with the platform and give you a strong foundational framework for making updates to your website.
While the websites we design are intentionally crafted to be user-friendly, it's important to note that your ability to make updates will primarily cover smaller changes—such as updating copy, swapping out images, adjusting colours, or modifying links. Significant structural changes, such as redesigning entire sections or pages, typically require professional assistance to maintain the integrity and strategic design of your site.
In order to successfully maintain your own website, you will need to commit to learning the basics of the platform and engaging with the resources we provide. While a low level of technical fluency is necessary, with a little time and practice, most clients find that maintaining their Curator-designed website is both intuitive and manageable.
Of course, if you ever prefer professional assistance—or simply want the peace of mind of expert care—we offer website maintenance packages, which are available upon request. Whether you need occasional support or ongoing monthly services, we are here to ensure your website continues to perform beautifully long after launch.
Please Note: While our websites are designed to be user-friendly, it’s important to approach edits thoughtfully. If changes are made outside of the framework we establish—such as altering core layouts, resizing elements inconsistently, or removing key structural components—this can unintentionally disrupt the visual integrity and functionality of your site.
If accidental changes occur that disrupt the visual aesthetic or function of your website, we are happy to assist with restoring or repairing the design. In this case, you may choose to purchase a Website Maintenance package or have these services billed at our standard hourly maintenance rate.
Will you work with my existing brand or logo?
At Curator, we understand that many businesses have already invested significant time, resources, and energy into developing their brand identity. Additionally, your logo and visual assets may now be deeply tied to your brand recognition and client trust. Unlike many high-end design firms that require a complete rebrand to work together, we are open to collaborating with clients who wish to maintain their existing brand elements.
If you would like us to work with existing brand assets, such as logos, typography, or visual materials that have been created by another designer or creative firm, we are happy to do so with the proper legal protections in place. To ensure that we can ethically and responsibly work with these materials, we require that you provide a copy of your contract or licensing agreement with the designer or creative firm that crafted your original brand assets. An external law firm we work with will review your contracts to confirm that the intellectual property rights have either been fully transferred to your business entity, or that the agreement includes appropriate clauses permitting third-party service providers, like Curator, to use, adapt, or modify the original designs within new projects. Rest assured that no one from our company will see or be made aware of any of the details of your third-party contracts beyond whether we are cleared to work with your assets.
This step is essential to protect both your business and ours from potential intellectual property disputes in the future.
Additionally, we require that you sign a contract with us indemnifying Curator from any claims, disputes, or liabilities that could arise from the use of the assets you provide. This ensures that the creative process can proceed smoothly and that all parties involved are safeguarded.
We are committed to honouring the integrity of your brand while delivering design work that elevates and amplifies your presence, all within a framework that is legally sound, ethical, and respectful.
Please Note: If you wish for us to work with brand assets designed by third-party designers or creative firms, you will be responsible for any legal fees associated with the review of third-party contracts to ensure we can legally use and modify your pre-existing assets.
Additionally, we also require that all design assets provided, such as logos, icons, and other key graphics, be submitted as editable Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files. This ensures that your assets are of the highest quality and can be seamlessly integrated into your new designs across all platforms and formats. If editable, high-resolution Adobe Illustrator files are not available, additional fees may apply for our designers to professionally recreate or refine these assets to meet our quality and technical standards.
Last, if you are unable to provide documentation confirming full ownership or appropriate licensing of your brand assets, we may recommend pursuing a brand refresh. This provides a valuable opportunity to refine and elevate your visual identity while ensuring that all creative assets are fully owned by your business and can be used without restriction. We would be happy to guide you through this process with the same care, creativity, and strategic attention we bring to all of our branding projects.
What if I only want a logo?
In today’s dynamic and highly competitive marketplace, a single logo is no longer sufficient to effectively capture and communicate the essence of a brand. A brand’s visual identity must be versatile, cohesive, and deeply aligned with its strategic goals to create meaningful connections with its audience. That’s why our Visual Branding service goes far beyond logo design.
We engage in a robust Strategic Marketing Analysis at the outset of every exclusive project, ensuring that every design decision is intentional and grounded in a comprehensive understanding of your business, your audience, and your positioning within the market. This strategic foundation enables us to craft visual identities that are not only beautiful but also highly functional and compelling.
Our Visual Branding service includes a complete logo suite featuring numerous logo variants to ensure your brand remains flexible and recognizable across different platforms and applications. In addition, we develop thoughtfully curated colour and font palettes that work together to reinforce your brand’s personality and message. We also provide a suite of supporting visuals, including backgrounds, textures, and carefully selected stock imagery if needed, to further enrich and unify your brand presence.
Because we believe that effective visual branding must be rooted in strategy and serve the broader goals of your business, we do not offer isolated or standalone logo design services. Every element we create is part of a larger, intentionally crafted brand ecosystem designed to support your long-term success.
Will I own the rights to my brand and website?
At Curator, we believe that clarity around intellectual property (IP) rights is essential to a successful, respectful partnership. We offer two types of agreements—exclusive and non-exclusive—each with its own structure regarding ownership and usage rights.
For clients who choose an exclusive contract, we include a full transfer of all intellectual property and copyright ownership. This means you will receive exclusive, legal ownership of all original materials we produce for you, including brand assets, graphic designs, written copy, and other creative works developed during the course of your project. Upon project completion and final payment, you will hold all exclusive rights to these materials, empowering you to use, modify, and distribute them as you see fit, without limitation.
Our exclusive pricing reflects the value of this transfer of legal ownership. While it may be higher than that of other designers, it ensures that you have full, unrestricted control over the creative assets essential to your brand’s success.
Alternatively, Curator also offers a suite of non-exclusive custom design services for clients who do not require full ownership. Under a non-exclusive contract, intellectual property rights and copyrights are not transferred. Instead, you are granted a non-exclusive commercial use license, which permits you to use the work commercially without interruption, but acknowledges that the underlying creative assets remain the property of Curator. In these cases, we retain the right to repurpose elements of the design—such as layouts or visual structures—as templates or future products, decoupling your brand identity from the website design itself.
Non-exclusive services are significantly discounted in comparison to our exclusive pricing, offering a more flexible solution for clients who are seeking a custom aesthetic without the need for full legal ownership.
Important Notes Regarding Third-Party Content: Regardless of whether you enter into an exclusive or non-exclusive agreement, please be aware that not all elements used within your project may be eligible for IP transfer. Third-party content—such as stock images, fonts, plugins, or other licensed materials—are generally governed by their own independent licensing agreements. These rights typically remain with the original creators or licensors, and cannot be transferred by Curator.
When third-party content is incorporated into your project, we will clearly identify those assets, provide links to the relevant licensing terms, and ensure you are fully informed of any ongoing obligations to maintain compliance. This information will be included both in your final project handover documentation and in your Website Maintenance Guide.
Indemnification Clause: For our mutual protection, our standard contract includes provisions stating that Curator is indemnified from any legal issues or disputes arising from the misuse of third-party assets. We are committed to transparency and will clearly outline what content belongs to you and what third-party usage rights you must continue to respect.
Our goal is always to ensure that your investment in your brand and website is fully protected, legally sound, and positioned for long-term success.

Does Curator manage marketing campaigns?
At Curator, our specialty lies in the creation of robust marketing strategies and the development of high-end creative assets that are deeply aligned with your brand’s overarching business objectives. Our role is to ensure that your brand’s visual identity, messaging, and strategic positioning are built on a strong foundation—one that makes your marketing campaigns more effective from the very start.
While we are available to consult on marketing campaigns—helping you plan strategy, refine creative direction, and ensure brand alignment—we do not directly manage or execute marketing campaigns on behalf of our clients. This means we do not handle tasks such as campaign scheduling, platform management (like Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, or email service providers), media acquisition, collaborator engagement, or ongoing analytics tracking.
However, we understand how important seamless execution is to your brand’s success. If you require hands-on marketing campaign management, we are happy to refer you to trusted marketing firms within our professional network. These firms specialize in campaign execution and media management and share our commitment to excellence. If desired, we can also coordinate with them during your project, consulting behind the scenes to ensure that the assets and strategies we create are flawlessly integrated into your campaigns.
In short, Curator focuses on the strategic foundation and creative excellence your marketing efforts require—while trusted partners can handle the day-to-day execution and management of your campaigns.
Does Curator offer social media marketing services?
At Curator, our primary focus is on building cohesive, strategic brand identities, and that extends into the realm of social media. While we do not manage or execute ongoing social media marketing campaigns, we do offer a curated selection of social media design and strategy services to support your broader marketing goals.
Our social media services include:
Graphic Design for Social Media: We create custom static graphics and GIFs tailored to your brand’s visual identity. These assets are crafted to maintain brand consistency across your online presence and are ideal for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
Content Marketing Copywriting for Social Media: Our team can provide strategic social media copywriting that aligns with your brand voice and supports your marketing objectives. This includes captions, taglines, and light content suggestions tied to the visuals we create.
Content Marketing Strategy: We offer limited social media strategy consulting, including the development of content pillars, schedules, and guidelines that align your social media efforts with your overall marketing strategy. This ensures that every post, story, and caption is rooted in the same strategic thinking that drives your brand forward.
Please note that we do not offer video editing services. If video content is a major part of your social media strategy, we are happy to recommend trusted third-party partners who specialize in video production and editing.
In short, our role is to help you build a strong, visually consistent, and strategically sound foundation for your social media presence, while giving you or your marketing team the tools needed to execute campaigns effectively.
Pricing
Does Curator offer payment plans?
Curator is pleased to offer payment plans to make our services more accessible to a wider range of clients. However, we also believe strongly in honouring the value of our work and protecting the financial health of our business.
Here’s how our payment plans work:
Standard Payment Structure: For most projects, we require a non-refundable 25% deposit to reserve your place in our production calendar. This deposit ensures our mutual commitment to the project.
Instalments: The remaining balance can be divided into three milestone payments that depend on the engagement's scope and timeline. Instalments are structured to ensure that the project is paid in full before your final assets are delivered.
Late Payment Policy: Late payments are subject to a late fee, as outlined in our contract. Work will pause if payments fall behind schedule, and your project timeline may be impacted as a result.
Custom Arrangements: In rare cases, if you require a custom payment schedule, we are happy to discuss options prior to contract signing, as extended or alternative payment plans must be approved prior to before signature and may involve an administrative fee.
We believe that clear, upfront communication about payment helps protect both your investment and our ability to deliver exemplary work without compromise.
Does Curator offer discounts?
At Curator Luxury Web Design, offer limited discounts, as outlined in our services fee schedules. Exclusive services are not discounted, as these services include the full transfer of intellectual property rights. Exclusive engagement pricing also reflects the significant creative, legal, and strategic value that these assets provide to your business both now and into the future. Similarly, services that do not involve the creation of new creative assets, such as strategic marketing or website maintenance, are priced thoughtfully and are not eligible for discounts beyond the outlined package discounts.
However, we recognize that not every client requires full exclusive ownership or extensive custom services. To accommodate different needs and budgets, we offer:
Custom and Semi-Custom Non-Exclusive Design Services: For clients seeking a more accessible option, we offer custom and semi-custom non-exclusive design services at a lower rate than our exclusive services. These services provide you with the right to commercially use the creative assets we design for you, without the transfer of full intellectual property ownership.
The Calgary Dream Design Deal: For clients with minimal budgets, we periodically offer our non-exclusive Calgary Dream Design Deal, a unique pay-what-you-can, pay-when-you-can initiative designed to support emerging businesses and passionate entrepreneurs. Please note that the Calgary Dream Design Deal is currently closed. If you are interested, we invite you to join the waitlist. However, availability is extremely limited, and we cannot guarantee if or when we will be able to undertake new projects for this initiative.
If our standard pricing structure does not currently fit your budget, we encourage you to explore our non-exclusive service offerings or join the Calgary Dream Design Deal waitlist. We deeply value every client inquiry and are committed to providing options where possible, while also honouring the value of the services we deliver.
Which expenses are not included in Curator's pricing?
In addition to our service fees, you will need to budget for several ancillary, third-party expenses that may arise during the course of your project. The specific third-party costs you incur will depend on the scope of your project, the creative and strategic assets required, and your particular goals.
While we pride ourselves on sourcing high-quality free resources whenever possible, some projects may require premium third-party assets to achieve the best possible outcome. These assets can range in price from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars or more, depending on your choices.
To help you plan accordingly, here are common additional expenses you may encounter:
Font Licenses: While many fonts are free for commercial use, premium font licenses may be recommended or required, especially for brands seeking a highly customized and elevated visual identity.
Stock Photography and Videography: Professional, high-quality imagery significantly enhances your brand’s credibility. Depending on your needs, you may choose to purchase premium stock photos, stock video clips, or commission custom brand photography.
Video Production and Editing: If your project requires custom videography or professional video editing beyond basic graphic design, we can recommend trusted third-party vendors to assist you.
Domain Registration Fees: You will need to register a domain name for your website, typically renewed annually.
Website Hosting and Platform Subscriptions: Hosting services and platform subscriptions (e.g., Showit, Squarespace, Shopify, WordPress hosting) are separate from our design fees and are billed directly to you by the service providers.
Printing Fees: You will need to budget for professional printing services if you require physical marketing materials, such as business or promotional cards, brochures, signs, or stationery.
Third-Party Software and Plugin Fees: Depending on your website's functionality, you may require subscriptions to third-party tools such as booking systems, e-commerce platforms, form builders, or CRM integrations.
Third-Party Marketing Campaign Consulting: Should you wish to engage a marketing firm to execute a campaign based on your new brand and assets, you will be responsible for their consulting or management fees.
Third-Party Social Media Management Services: If you prefer to outsource social media content creation or account management to professionals, those services will be billed separately by the providers you select.
Market Research and Testing: If you opt for additional services such as professional customer surveys, product testing, or message testing conducted by a third-party agency, those fees will not be included in our base packages.
Custom Third-Party Expense Estimates: We will provide you with a detailed estimate of any anticipated third-party costs during your custom project proposal process. We believe in full transparency so you can make informed decisions and build a realistic project budget with confidence.
